Information

The Ontario Mennonite Relief Sale Inc. operates two sales annually - the Heifer Sale held the third Friday of February and the New Hamburg Mennonite Relief Sale held in New Hamburg the last Friday and Saturday of May. The first Relief Sale was organized in 1967 by Mennonite churches in southwestern Ontario in response to ever-growing world-wide need for relief from hunger, poverty and natural disaster.

Over the years, the total annual contribution to the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), the parent organization, has increased from $31,500 in 1967 to a total contribution of nearly of nearly $13.5 million dollars in the 41 years of the Sale.

Thank You

Did you know that all merchandise and services are donated for this sale? This is possible because all expenses (which are approximately $50 000.00) are paid through promotions and donations prior to the Sale. Many fund-raising dinners are held with the major one taking place annually in April at Bingeman Park in the Ballroom. About 800 people enjoy the meal, the quilt display and the fellowship.

Were you aware that all money raised on sale day is donated to Mennonite Central Committee(MCC)? Thanks to the 2,000+ volunteers who provide their time and talents, all the money is returned to Mennonite Central Committee, the parent organization, which then distributes it to assist with relief efforts around the world.
